Not Me! Monday

Not Me! Monday
I totally did not almost run over my foot with the riding lawn mower!!! I'm much too careful to do something like that. Something like that would NEVER happen to me. And Thank You God for protecting me and my little foot ... since the whole foot thing never happened.

Update: Boss's Snack Day

The snack day for my boss's birthday turned out pretty good today. In addition to the brownies, no-bake cookies, sausage balls, 5-layer dip and chips that I brought, we also had Krispy Kreme doughnuts, chocolate cupcakes (Yum!), and pita chips and cream cheese raspberry chiptle dip. With all that good food, we all ate a lot .. all day. So I'm glad we don't do these snack days very often.

Emily's Art Work

Emily's Art Work
I had an idea today to use my blog to display some of Emily's projects from Sunday School/Cubbies/School. Here are pictures of few pieces of art that Emily has made recently.

The chalk drawing from Cubbies last week. Emily's Jumper book from Cubbies. Check out her expression in the picture!!! Also, I forgot to mention that she got her first patch for her Cubbies vest last week. I've got to figure out how to attach the patch. Any ideas?

Pictures from Our Afternoon/Evening

Pictures from Our Afternoon/Evening
After our nap this afternoon, we had to take a bath so that we could go visit Mike's parents. I figured we would be out late so better to get our bath before we left. When we got over to Nanny's house, Mason was there and he had been asking where Emily was.
He was wearing a "cape" (blanket) and carrying around a "wand" (straw) and he told me that he was Beast (from Beauty and the Beast.) This is him saying "I"m Beast!"I thought this picture was funny the way they were sucking down their juice. I found out later that it wasn't juice, but tea! That explains a lot.
While Pops was grilling the burgers and dogs, Emily and I went outside to play on the swing set.

Then after we ate, Madison and Mason joined us for some outdoor fun. The moms watched the kids while the dads and grandparents watched the OU game.

We left before half-time so that Emily could go to bed. We've had lots of busy days lately and I see no end in sight.

On one final note for the night, my PaPaw passed away one year ago today. Still miss him. Sure wish I could have been with my Mom today. Hopefully we'll get to see her in a few weeks.

Finally Friday!

Finally Friday!
For some reason, this seemed like the longest work week and I am so so so glad it's over. We had Date Night (which should be re-labeled Family Night) tonight and went to eat some yummy fajitas at Alfredo's.

We have no special plans for this weekend. I wanted to go see Nights in Rodanthe, but so far that's not working out. Instead, I'll probably lay around in bed and read Sail.

This morning at work, our group decided to organize a snack day on Monday to celebrate our boss's birthday. Did I mention that I'm the only female in our small group? Do any of these guys know how to cook? Scary thoughts. haha So anyway, I'm trying to figure out what I can fix for snack day. I was thinking maybe sausage balls, but I don't know what else.

Does anyone have some ideas or a snack recipe that I can try?

"Please don't do that."

no image
Tonight, Emily and I went to Cubbies. I had five boys and girls in my class. I think Emily had more than that in her class. Our classes accidentally met in the bathroom and it was chaos.

Our verse was Genesis 1:1 - "God created the heavens and the earth." We learned that God created the light and we made chalk drawings. We talked about what we do during the day and at night. Then we hunted bunny tails. (Scattered cotton balls in the dark room and used flash lights to find them.) Aren't you glad that God made the light??

While we were eating our snack (oreo cookies) tonight, I was singing along with our song for the week and one of the sweet little girls looked up at me and said "Please don't do that." Haha, I guess she told me!!!

News on my Camera

no image
Mike asked me to take a picture of him tonight. He has to have a "mug shot" for the Truck Stop Ministry that he's getting involved in. So I got out my new camera and the touch screen WORKED! It worked just fine. I was able to get to the menu and I did the process to reset the touch screen like the book talked about. I was thrilled! I guess I won't have to send it back now. Yah!!!

Not Me! Monday

no image
1) I did not loiter in the bathroom stall for several minutes this morning at work to avoid having to speak to someone I don't particularly like.

2) I did not boot up my extra PC and pull up a spreadsheet to make myself look extra busy when the VP came through our area at work this morning.

3) I totally did not eat an ice cream sandwhich while cooking dinner tonight and waiting for my sweet family to arrive home. And I also did not hide the wrapper so that nobody would know. (Hi honey! Love you!)

Nope, not me!

As you can see, I've jumped on the Not Me! Monday bandwaggon started by MckMama over at My Charming Kids. I've been reading some of the post over at MCK and they are hilarious! I just had to post a few of my own. Go check them out for yourself! And while you're there, read about MckMama's son Stellan. This family is in desperate need of our prayers right now.

Halloween Costume Trial Run And Other News

Halloween Costume Trial Run And Other News
Mike's mom bought Emily an Ariel costume when they were in Florida the other week. Tonight, we tried it on to make sure it would fit. As you can see from the pictures below, it does fit and and Emily looks very cute in it. We were missing one shoe, but we went ahead and took a few pictures. As usual, her smiles look very fake when I ask her to smile so some of the later pictures where when I told her to "twirl" in her dress.

This is not the crown that she'll be wearing, but we had to have some type of crown for our pictures. (Of course, silly me.)She said that she hopes to get some Smarties when she goes Trick or Treating.
This is my favorite picture.
And here is one of the fancy shoes. I actually dig the shoes.

In Other News ....
My new camera has a major malfunction. The touch screen has become unresponsive. It will occasionally respond, but it's as if I touched a different part of the screen. The manual says to go into the Menu and reset it, but I can't get the Menu button to respond at all. So I guess I'm going to have to send it back. I'm totally bummed about this since I will be without a camera for however long it takes to get it back.
Hope you all have a great week!

Family Time

Family Time
Yesterday morning, we took Emily to gymnastics. It was Teddy Bear Day and she took her stuffed elephant named Sweetheart. They got to jump on the air trampoline and did some work on the balance beams. Then they went to their small groups and worked on cartwheels and some rolls. I just wish the parents could see what they were doing in small group time.

Unfortunately, I didn't get any good pictures of Emily and Sweetheart.
Then after gymnastics, Mike wanted to take us to Ted's for lunch but Emily didn't want to go. So we went home for lunch and then took a nap. It worked out for the best anyway. We took a long nap and then went back to Ted's for supper.

Then this morning after church, we went with the family to Cracker Barrell for lunch. Emily threw a little tantrum because she didn't want to sit with me. That's becoming more and more typical these days. So she went and sat by the girls. Here they are after lunch sitting in some of the rocking chairs on the porch. The picture turned out a little dark, but they had a good time.

Party at Pops!

Party at Pops!
Last night, we went to Pops for Kevin's 30-something birthday party. Pops is a restaurant/soda shop out on Route 66. They have over 500 varieties of soda pop and their building is very out-of-this-world-cool.

They have a giant lighted pop bottle out front.
And over 500 cold, refreshing varieties of soda pop inside.
Our party took up three booths in the very small restaurant. Here, Pops and Nanny and Emily are sharing a booth.
Nanny and Emily. (Check out the pop bottles lining the windows floor to ceiling behind them.)
All the girls got to sit together.Mason in his Mickey House hat!
Kim (and Duane) came down from Tulsa for the party.

The three sisters (and our wonderful waitress). Check out the goodies above the soda counter.
As we were getting ready to leave, we went out to check out the giant pop bottle. As you can see, the colors change on the pop bottle.
And Sarah and Madison came out to get their picture taken as well. And they got so excited that they started running around the base of it. They thought it was very cool.

Emily fell asleep on the way home. She must have been so tired because that's fairly unusual for her.

Will post more later!

Ahhh the sound of ....

Silence!

Emily is spending the night with Nanny and Pops tonight. It's quiet at our house for a change.

Tomorrow night is AWANA Cubbies. I think our verse is "God is Love".

Welcome Home, Nanny!

Welcome Home, Nanny!
Nanny and the crew got back from Walt Disney World on Saturday afternoon. We went over to visit and hear about their trip on Sunday night.

Nanny has brought lots of goodies for us.

Emily got a pretty pink umbrella with her name on it.

And Uncle Gary, Aunt Cherry, Madison and Mason got Emily a Princess watch.
Nanny bought her these little princess dolls. They have teeny tiny shoes!Nanny got her a Princess Alarm Clock
And an Ariel costume, which Emily refused to put on .. and some sequined shoes to go with her costume.

Emily and Pops looking at the cards that she got at Subway earlier that night.

Pops looking at the new Scooby Doo that Emily won at the fair.

Aunt Charlene and Uncle Ralph also got Emily a Minnie Mouse shirt. Nanny got her a Disney shirt and a Princess Jacket. Nanny also got her a Christmas Ornament and one for our family as well.

It sounds like they all had a really good time and the weather cooperated too.

Oklahoma State Fair

Oklahoma State Fair
This afternoon, we went to the Oklahoma State Fair. The weather was very nice although it was quite windy. We got some good fair food, looked through some of the buildings and played some games.

We stop by a booth to have a caricature of Emily drawn. Quite a crowd gathered around to watch the man draw her picture.

This is the final result. Isn't it cute?? We'll have to get it framed and hang it in Emily's room.

We made a few shade stops so that we could rest.
Then we went to the HTZ Employee party. They had games and prizes and lots of good food. We had already eaten lunch but we had another snack and brought home some goodies.
Emily liked the strawberries.

I saw several people that I knew and lots of people that I didn't. It was good to see some of the people I used to work with who have moved on to one of the other HTZ buildings in town.
I got this piece of watermelon for myself, but Emily snatched it off my plate and chowed down. Then we went to play some games.

Emily won this Scooby Doo playing a fishing game.As you can tell from the smile, she was very excited about the prize that she won.She was giving Scooby some love on the way home.

And then (unpictured) we all pigged out on a bag of ALL PINK cotton candy in the car on the way home. We were all tired by the time we got home so Emily took a long nap with Scooby.
